BE YOUR OWN VALENTINE

Updated: Feb 23, 2023

It’s all about self love

Given that Valentine's Day was just a few days ago, I'd like to emphasize the significance of self-love. I'm someone who frequently overlooks the importance of putting my needs before those of others, which is a behavior I'd like to improve. Self-love is crucial to our lives because it fosters an attitude of acceptance, which makes it possible to understand your circumstances and take ownership of your actions. It influences our actions and gives us the freedom to choose for ourselves. In order to practice self-love, I developed a list of activities to do each day in New York City, which has taught me self-awareness, as it allows me to reflect on my ideas and feelings.

Take a walk in Central Park

If you are currently in New York, you are aware that the winter weather has been mild, which is perfect for taking long walks around the city. I've made it a goal of mine to at least take a walk once a week since moving to New York. A walk around Central Park is ideal if you're feeling anxious. I even advise bringing some snacks and a book so you can relax and take in the scenery. If you want to spend some time by yourself, this will undoubtedly help you to find some head space as well as physical space. You won't regret it, so go for it.

Go to a pilates class

I recently discovered a lovely and worthwhile pilates class to attend here in the City. If you reside in New York, you are aware that many pilates programs can be extremely pricey. I discovered a studio called Power Pilates, which offers a range of classes at several locations. Because of the safe setting and the caring, attentive staff, I really felt comfortable and relaxed here. If you want to attempt a Pilates class, I would highly recommend going here. On the other hand, I didn't forget about my pals who like to workout on their own. Here's a strategy. Go to a park, bring your yoga mat, and, like I normally do, go to YouTube and do a Pilates lesson there.

Get a Facial

Who doesn't enjoy a good facial? It can seem a bit decadent, however, it is such a nice thing to do for yourself, and I completely advise doing it. I have yet to explore all of the spas in New York, but I do advise you to look for facilities that offer facials. I am aware that they can be quite expensive, which is possibly why we don't go, but it is no justification for disregarding your own health. Here is a fun alternative to consider: take a little hour for yourself after a long day to care for your body. Have some brownies ready, turn on some music, and get a face mask for the evening. I enjoy doing this, especially after a long day, and once you do it, you will never go back. Trust me.

Love Yourself

I created this list because I want other people to know how I practice self love. When you begin to accept who you are, you understand where love and happiness comes from. You begin to recognize the power you possess and make decisions based on what is best for you. Self-love enables us to care for ourselves, which is a critical aspect in our lives. “Love yourself first, and everything else falls in line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” – Lucille Ball. P.S.
