#clutchbags girlboss: Ana Petri

Updated: May 21, 2020

The team at #clutchbagsdotcom was excited to bring you our new #girlboss campaign last week, and this week we continue to bring you our #clutchbagsgirlboss. So we sat down with Ana Petri, a fellow #clutchbagsgirlboss to chat about all things isolation, staying productive, creative and more. Maybe it's her years of experience, or her degree at Parsons, but regardless Ana is the ultimate #girlboss and she navigates this uncertain time of working and staying creative from isolation.

Here is a snap of our interview with this #bossbabe. We can't wait to bring you more #girlboss content next week. Contact us today if you'd like to be featured or if you know someone who you think would make a great #girlboss designer with their #usamade accessories.

Please introduce yourself and your brand.

My name is Ana, I’m a designer and product developer at the Clutch Made Factory. I’m 24 years old, and was born in a small town in São Paulo, Brazil.

How do you balance being a #girlboss designer in your schedule?

I think it’s super important to balance work with other activities and resting time, so I try to paint, draw, embroider and read in my free time. This resting time is very important as it makes me a better designer and helps me do my job better. For example, sometimes I’m stuck with a design problem for days on end and I can’t seem to find a solution; then I might be reading or painting and the solution just pops into my head.

What are you doing to stay productive and creative during isolation?

I’ve been keeping a routine even when working from home. I wake up, I drink my coffee and get dressed as if I’m heading out to work. I’m not one of those people that can work wearing pajamas, I become completely useless if I do that. On the other hand I have been trying to be kinder to myself – it’s ok not to be productive all the time, specially right now. So I try to sit in my backyard and read in the sun, I play with makeup, and I enjoy a nice wine or a cold beer a couple times a week to relax a bit

Do you have any recommendations for books/films/tv shows/instagram accounts etc that are inspiring you right now?

I recently watched a couple of Ghibli films that are now on Netflix - Spirited Away and Holw’s Moving Castle – and they are so fun to watch, and the visuals are beautiful! For books I just finished reading Elena Ferrante’s napolitan series – there are 4 books in the collection and it’s an amazing series. I’m not much of a TV series person but I’ve been watching a lot of Law & Order reruns on TV. I do however watch a lot of Youtube! Some channels in particular that have been inspiring me are BestDressed, WithWendy & Diana Chamomile – they are super cool girls that talk a lot about sustainable fashion, art and DIYs.
